U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles, 1861-1865, lists Charles enlisting, at the age of 18, on Dec 8, 1863,in Co K, Massachusetts 1st heavy artillery regiment and mustered out in 1865. He married Martha Abigail Pierce on Dec 24, 1868.They had three known children, Charlena H., James W. and Albert. Charles is the son of Warren Nourse and Nancy Derby.
