Epithet in Memory of James W. Stott
Born in Billerica September 13, 1863
Died in Arizona August 11, 1888
James was a victim in the famous Graham -Tewksbury Feud, also known as the Pleasant Vally War, in Pleasant Valley Arizona. Arrested by a sheriff's posse on a false charge of horse stealing, the posse turned James and two of his companions, James Scott and Billy Wilson, over to a vigilante party, They were hanged from a pine tree and their bodies left for three days before they were cut down and buried the tree. No one was ever charged in their murder.
