son of David Seabury Sears and Harriet Allen Mathews
At 10 years of age went to sea with with his father on the clipper ship "Revenue." Served as the mate on various ships from 1874-1882. After leaving the sea was a cranberry grower and painter. Lived in the house built by Ezra Sears in 1819 now 2 Pleasant St, E Dennis.
